Santa Tecla Festival of Tarragona | Budget Adventure Travel

There are 3 things you absolutely must see and experience when in Spain.

  1. The Bull Race in Pamplona

  2. Bullfighting in Madrid

  3. Annual Santa Tecla street festival in Tarragona, Catalonia

I could not experience #1 and #2 (yet!!!) but I know even if I did, I would still enjoy #3, which I did, the most! I mean, this annual festival draws visitors from across Europe to witness one of the most extravagant outdoor carnivals in the world.

Get ready to experience unique Catalonia culture and dining, which is quite a bit different from the rest of Spanish provinces and cities. The picture gallery and video below showcase the main highlights of this festival. larkycanuck.com | Travel Adventures | Spain | Santa Tecla Festival of Tarragona (Catalonia) Flight Network, FlightNetwork, Price Drop Protection

Money Savings Tip

  • Your best bet in visiting this place is to combine it with a trip to Barcelona, which is about 1 hour away by road. You can take the bus, train or rent a car (latter being the most flexible option). Car rentals are not very expensive (especially cost-effective if party of four) but fuel is expensive. Also, manual transmission (stick-shift, gear handles) are the norm. Automatic transmission vehicles have to be specially requested and will cost more.
  • Include several stops over a 2-day trip as other famous towns and Cities fall within a 2 hour travel time distance from each other. Must stops include Valencia and Cartagena.
  • Flights from Canada are relatively inexpensive if flying in to Madrid in comparison to Barcelona. And you can take the regional train service from Madrid to Barcelona.

Check out the 2.5 minute video clip below of what the Santa Tecla Street festival looks and sounds like. Its W.I.L.D.
