The closest I came to visiting a cave was in Oman and  the Dominican Republic.

It was incredible to experience the world from the life of the Hobbit . But these caves were more like caverns that offered full upright walk-ability for all heights. Crawling through tight spaces is another thing.

So when I realized that such activity of sheer madness was available next door to me (in the City of Canmore), I was ready to sign off on that waiver form and “head into” [haha pun] the crevice.

The folks at Canmore Cave Tours offer YEAR ROUND, RAIN or SHINE, for a natural history tour into Rat’s Nest Cave: a wild, undeveloped cave under Grotto Mountain near Banff and Canmore, Alberta, Canada.

There are two tour options depending on your personal madness level [oops] interest level.

I plan a trip in the great down under in our most wonderful time of the year – February when -40 degrees Celsius is just  way of life around here.

Now I wonder, has anybody ever proposed to a loved one while down here.

I am just hoping to meet the Mad Hatter on the way.
